The Mondschein Eggshell brass cremation urn is crafted from brass in the shape of a classic style vase. The design features a lunar full moon rising over the water on a starry night. The design is made by using an "eggshell" technique, which was first developed China around the time of the Tang dynasty (7th to 10th century A.D.). Craftsmen use duck eggs that have already hatched, puzzle out patterns of irregular geometry from broken off pieces of eggshell and glue each piece carefully. Then, several layers of lacquer are applied on the urn. It has a threaded, top-opening lid.
A Classic Style and a Time-Honored Metal
Brass is one of the most popular and common materials used to create cremation urns today, and with good reason. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, and history tells us both the Ancient Greeks and Romans had an early appreciation of this beautiful, yet cost-effective and extremely useful metal. Brass cremation urns provide a simple and dignified resting place, while helping to ensure the memorial is as unique as the person being remembered.
Perfect for Home Display or Burial
Brass urns can be kept at home, entombed in a cemetery columbarium niche or buried in an earth grave. Please note some cemetery regulations may require that this urn be placed inside of an urn vault prior to earth burial.
